The rabbit’s heterophil is the equivalent of the neutrophil in other mammalian species. It is characterized by a more pronounced cytoplasmic granulation. However, these granules are not as basophilic as those of basophils. Note the polymorphic (segmented) appearance of this cell’s nucleus.
