Parasites in urine
Urine sediment , 100x |
This microphotograph illustrates a microfiliaria surrounded by red blood cells in a urine sediment. This animal had microfilaremia caused by Dirofilaria immitis , the agent responsible for heartworm disease in dogs. Microfilaria may be seen in the urine of microfilaremic dogs presenting with urinart tract hemorrhage. Dirofilaria immitis is otherwise not a urinary tract pathogen. For true urinary tract parasites, see Capillaria plica. |
