Macrophages
Wright's stain, 500x The macrophages in this microphotograph are surrounded by many neutrophils. Some show marked cytoplasmic vacuolation and partially digested material (black arrows pointing to the nucleus of the highly vacuolated cell). The size of a macrophage can vary greatly according to its cytoplasmic activity. Other macrophages (red arrows) show little or no cytoplasmic vacuolation. |
Wright's stain, 500x The above microphotograph shows two vacuolated macrophages (red arrows), as well as a few neutrophils and many red blood cells.
