Preparing for the journey...

After the amazing conference given by Team Guatemala in the fall of 2005, the three of us were already dreaming up our own adventure!  Everywhere seemed like a good place to travel, but we eventually just let the country choose us!  After a few twists and turns, we began sending requests to a few countries in Eastern Asia.  The response that we received from the Philippines within just a few short weeks in reply to our emails was astounding, and so it was thus that our connection with this beautiful country began!

The school year that ensued was like participating in a marathon- it seemed like we didn’t stop running around in pursuit of sponsorship, organizing fundraisers and of course finishing the final preparations necessary for our trip.  We were thrilled to be able to cooperate throughout this entire process with the African team: such a big challenge required six original thinkers, along with all of our different strengths and ideas.  We came out of this process having learned a great deal, having never slept so little, and having made some wonderful friends!
